Dawn O’Porter feels like she’ll cry forever after Donald Trump’s re-election.
The 45-year-old presenter and writer joined the growing chorus of celebrities criticising the vote for Trump as the 47th US president by sharing a map of the nation covered in red.
Dawn, who lived in the US for 16 years, commented online about the former reality star returning to America’s top job: “I feel like I’m going to cry for the rest of my life. This breaks my heart. After all that, still this.”
Other famous faces who railed against Trump’s re-election included singer Paloma Faith, 43, who said the decision meant America would say goodbye to “women’s rights, liberalism and freedom of speech.”
And he added: “Hello, racism, hello, capitalism, hello, climate change, hello, war, hello, end of days.”
Supermodel Cara Delevingne, 32, hit back by urging her friends to unleash four years of “hell” on Republicans.
Cara, who was born in London and has spent years living in the US, said in an online post how her friends should not mope in despair over Trump’s election but rage against him: “A message to my friends: Trump will win the White House. The GOP has control of the Senate. This is gutting, yes, but also liberating. We have to make every day of the next four years a living hell for fascists, misogynists, bigots and liars. This is not the time to cower. Nor the time to despair. This is the time for that classic Disney villainy – larger than life, a little bit gay, impossibly well-dressed, impossibly cool. That punk rock, black-tie guerrilla parade. This is our age of villains. Make art. Enjoy your power. You are about to learn that the hardest thing about gaining power is keeping it.”
Trump delivered his victory speech on Wednesday morning (06.11.24), despite facing a series of legal problems and having been branded a “fascist” during the election campaign against his 60-year-old Democratic rival, Kamala Harris.
